We’ve noticed everyone has taken a liking to talking about the race. So we’re giving you a place to do that, and just that.
Feel free to use this area to discuss anything and everything about the Little 500 — Qualifications, Spring Series, the race itself.
Please, no character attacks. Trash-talking is great, but slandering people isn’t. Let’s keep it clean. Or your post will be deleted.
Any rookies standing out at rookie week?
Any rookies standing out at rookie week?
Sig Ep rookies are looking natural on the track which will make the team a threat this year
That Thompson kid is fit but he can’t race for shit
He has no idea what he’s doing and can’t handle the turns without sliding all over the place
He came into the fall with more experience than most of the rookies, which accounted for his fall “domination.” Now that a majority of the rookies have caught up he’s gonna be humbled big time.
Yoooo why was Megan tennell barkin out orders at the rookies this week?
little lady got a RC vest and thinks it means she’s got the power smdh
you haters just can’t stand to see a woman with authority
Leadership for a Lifetime???
Bitching about me to everyone is a bad look. Not sure what proof you need other than multiple, recorded angles of you riding into me and hitting the ground. I really thought this would be over for you by now but hearing that my name is still in your mouth is sad. After the wreck I apologized to you and Knapp because I was sorry the race was over for us, not because I wrecked you out.
Drama!!!
Last year it sometimes felt like I was one of the ONLY people in the field that didn’t have a bad taste in their mouth from you, INCLUDING MOST OF YOUR TEAM. At a certain point maybe you should consider if it’s not everyone else that is the problem.
sounds like a skill issue
This year seems to be proving a correlation between being good at riding bikes and being an absolute whiny little bitch. If this community is going to piss and shit all year about something that happened in a race from months ago, then go handle it in private like an adult, then do us all a favor and fuck off. It’s been constant this year – the fast ones at the top representing the race are mostly crying little toddlers. 2023 will mark the first year when there is more testosterone in the Miss Indiana beauty pageant than in the top of the Men’s Race.
The majority of riders are sick of this same shit from the same few teams and individuals who can’t seem pull their thumb out of their ass crack and stop being an utter embarrassment to the race.
The only bad taste you had in your mouth was my nuts
What if I’m not an adult and I just wanna do a little trolling? relax old man
Guys sometimes you gotta be the nicest to the meanest people. Chances are when someone is an asshole they’re just going thru some shit. You never know what kind of depression or mental issues or even just personal relationship stuff is going on with someone and maybe Gavin or these guys ur bashing just need friends or someone to show them what it’s like to hang with good, fun people. It could be your kindness that transforms someone’s perspective…
Funny that the guy who people think is doping doesn’t show up to the practice races… suspicious
Why is it that as soon as people see someone with some actual talent and a solid work ethic, they immediately assume doping/steroids? The reality of it is that most L5 riders are just really bad at the sport and don’t know what it actually takes to be a decent cyclist. You too can get good at cycling if you actually commit to a training program that isn’t dumb af and dedicate more than 6 hours a week to it. In short, nobody’s on EPO. You just suck.
Carson is fucking ripped to the bone and it’s because he works hard, love the doping allegations as if anyone would do it for a race so trivial, though it doesn’t mean he’s the best little 5 rider as well – an observant alum
Dan Gaz stfu and go back to doing push ups in your pit
@CL
Welcome CL, another poster who is so so mercifully free from the ravages of intelligence.
Guys guys let’s just settle this debate once and for all:
McNutt is clearly the strongest Little 5 team, nobody stands a chance against them.
They’ve become so good that they don’t even ride normal bike routes. They take their bikes out onto I-69 and compete against cars because racing against normal bike riders is far too easy. They leave cars in their dust in the fast lane regularly on their way to riding their daily quadruple century.
That train that got derailed in Ohio 2 weeks ago? That was caused by McNutt. They were practicing bump drills with trains because regular riders were far too weak for them and well, we all know what happened to that train.
I’ve personally seen the McNutt team ride uphill both ways on their way to class with one foot, while the other foot was busy fighting two mountain lions.
We are all insignificant. McNutt is inevitable and we all need to accept it, there’s no need to squabble amongst ourselves.
Haha that was so funny! Are you a cat 5 by any chance?
go follow my meme page
Despite this childish drama about bikers not accepting the shit that happens to them, what are some things to look out for in the race?
If you think people use their real names on here, or view this as a good place for accurate Little 500 news…despite, literally despite ALL of that, if you have to ask what to look out for you belong in the booth with Charlie Hammon because he has to ask too

Kinda scared, Cinzano put in some spooky miles this winter and its SHOWING on the track 😳
Funny coming from a forest rider
plz dont race me in a park!
Before these new bikes erase all the records set by men of old, I think we need to shoutout the last 10 years of Little 500 cycling. Dudes like Xavier Martinez, Joe Krahulik, and Nobel Romans Guyon deserve to have their names praised like Hans as they ushered in this new era of Little 500. Like it or not, they set the stage for these clowns we have riding on SuperBikes instead of the 50lb Schwinn bikes these legends pushed into sub 2:20 ITTs
Exactly who is praising Hans? And the State “Superbikes” (Steel) weigh more than the “50lb” Schwinn (Aluminum) bikes. By 6 to 7 pounds.
Hans is the standard every rider is held to, regardless of association. Despite track conditions, cog size, and coke use, he has set the line, at least in ITTs.
Dude is for-sure on the EPO. Wow what a loser
If you are sure, then make a formal complaint to IUSF, naming names, including your own. PEDs are against the rules, bad for the race and bad for the athlete long term. Testing is relatively cheap and easy. IUSF would need to follow through by testing privately and a proven cheater would have repercussions well beyond loss of eligibility.
If instead you are just trolling someone who put in the work and is riding you off his wheel, then who is the loser here?
Who exactly are you accusing of using EPO? Use you real name if you respond. What proof do you have other than he is faster than me?
Maybe instead of accusing people ride your bike more bud
Seems like an accusation made by someone who wants to get everyone piss tested…and then siphon off some of the piss for their own shameless pleasures
We could test everyone or we could just test Carson, it would be the same result
We could test everyone or just test Carson, would be the same outcome either way
I’d argue he’s on tren or T or HGH rather than any of these and the answer is none. Jesus kids ride your bike more and you’ll look fit
The only loser is someone who can’t make time to train as much as his competition, if that’s what he cares about. Spend some time on the bike, heck a lot of it, and come back and realize how out of touch you are
You can find my piss on Zanes car
Love the Carson doping comments. Just reeks of insecurity IMO. Nobody can afford or would go so far to take PEDs for little 5, it’s literally an unofficial and impractical bike race that means so little in the long run. Any haters are just jealous they can’t work as hard or prioritize the thing they “care so much about”.
Grow up
I destroyed Carson for a few years but i know what it looks like when someone is doping.
I destroyed your mom for a few years. I know what it looks like when someone is unsatisfied with their marriage.

Odds that BKB snakes their way into the race? We all know that rules don’t apply to special teams.
I heard that every grief counselor in the Midwest is headed to Bloomington.
Last time I checked bkb could never do exchanges…2021 race….probably should have gone to the track. Sux!
Good Shit Cinzano! Shut them mfs up
BKB went for something really cool today and had a lot of grit to do it, I’m sad to see them not make it into the race and honestly if they have the precedent to make it in, I would be the first to welcome them. Let’s not give them any shit, they deserve all the praise in the world for the passion and drive. It’s guys like BKB that make the race what it is.
“Maybe we should not have hired Matt Painter to coach us yesterday…”
I don’t think the coaching is to blame for yesterdays “mishaps”
Check yourself. Even though they are your competitors, it should make you sad watching people that worked so hard and care so much to not get to race. They put their all into it. If you can come in here and anonymously talk shit, you’re lacking in the human part of bike racing. The point of quals is to make sure the fastest teams are in the race, but unfortunately it really just judges how teams can do an exchange that isn’t even needed in the bike race. There’s no question about it, they are one of the fastest teams. You’re happy about them not qualing because you’re scared to race them… you know they’re faster than you. Throw some respect their way… its not funny, its heart braking.
First, as a veteran of more than a few Qualifications, it IS the responsibility of the coach. They are responsible for the physical and mental readiness of the Quals team. This is especially true for a team with a record like BKB. It is unfortunate they are not in the race however; they have done their share of trashing talking other teams and riders and that always comes back to haunt you. It’s called Karma.
“The point of quals is to make sure the fastest teams are in the race, but unfortunately it really just judges how teams can do an exchange that isn’t even needed in the bike race.”
This comment illustrates how little the poster understands and appreciates what Quals represents in the scheme of the Little 500. The point Quals is to make sure the fastest teams who can complete 3 exchanges are in the race. It’s been that way since 1951. I especially enjoyed the part: “an exchange that isn’t even needed in the bike race”. I’m pretty sure exchanges are required in the race. Face it, the bar was exceptionally low for entry into the 2023 race. Only having to beat the Beta time of 2:52.070, was not some hopeless task. Speed was irrelevant, exchanges were paramount.
It would have been nice to have seen all three BKB attempts. But IUSF obviously concluded that the best way to experience Quals if you were not at the track was to stare at a spreadsheet; the excitement provided by pressing the refresh button. It seems that every year, IUSF (and I’m NOT referring to Emily either!) manages lose ground when it comes to valuing the spectators.
“Heart braking” let us down and I can’t help but think that we would have made the race had we been better at braking using our feet.
Very happy that IUSF and Student Foundation realized how important BKB is to the Little 500 and added BKB and two other rando teams to the first ever 12th row!
Chose not to livestream after continued feedback about previous ones being low-quality.
A few teams streamed their attempts yesterday, and they looked great!
Well, that explains everything! BTW, your technology consisted of a 2nd gen iPad (2014)
I guess “Leadership for a Lifetime” means that “If at first you don’t succeed, Give up.”
As an SC alumni, I’m stunned by your response.
Would love to see IU media school get involved with streaming Quals and the Spring Series Events. Would give the announcers plenty of time to interview teams/riders before the race and work out any technical issues.
Sad to see that BKB will not be in this year’s race. Big fan of those guys. Feel like they should have known after the first fault to slow down and focus on good solid exchanges in order to at least have a chance to be on the board. Better to get a bad time in quals than to not qual at all. Speed is one thing, control is another. I know those boys are strong, but safe and proper execution of exchanges never goes out of style and boy is it necessary on race day.
Ego ego ego
Any news on where I can see pics from quals?
Other than bkb faulting Cinzano qualifying 8th was the highlight of quals. They’ve been getting an unnecessary amount of clowning just for being a team. They’ve been working hard all year and I’m glad to see them finish top 10.
Surprised no one has called out the Cutter margin of victory. Very impressive pole performance, guys!
Team of 4 sprinters what’d you expect?
ITT
Miss N Out
Team Pursuit
Predictions?
gotta be a phi delt sweep right?
It would be extremely detrimental to Gavin and Nat’s mental health if the nightmare continued
While you were studying Strava, I studied the exchange.
While you were engaged in practice races during spring break, I practiced the exchange.
While you spent weekends doing forest loops and running beer miles for the sake of vanity, I used the exchange.
Now that Quals is here you’re all unprepared, unlike me…for I studied the exchange.
RIP bkb. so sad to see. however, i am not suprised. due to poor leadership and a lack of discipline, it was inevitable something like this was bound to happen. that team severely lacked any type of leadership.
Can we bring back the topic of Carson taking EPO
Clearly not with that ITT result
Sweet
I wouldn’t count carson out of the race and other spring series events yet. He’s an endurance guy and I don’t think 4 laps is his strong suit in my opinion
I don’t think people realize the volume he is training at. Maybe was just fatigued
People said the same thing about choke-king Albert
Id count his team tho
Teter walked their exchanges and still got 2nd….
Happy to see BKB do well at ITTs yesterday, really feel for them not racing this year. The field is missing a dangerous team.
ITT showed a lot of low tier teams like SAE and Asig that will be a threat to the field
Chill B line night ride tn?
Omg Trayce is coming back for another year 👏
#Stopjetblach *Polls 11th*
Lol. Those guys suck
If DeltBlach can make it to to the final lap they’ve got a better than average chance to take the victory. Last year JB’s Josh had the fastest lap of the race going :33.5 on lap 200.
Aren’t they really good? I saw their promo video and they seem like pro cyclists
With what the fields looking like this year I am certain that the strongest/smartest sprinter will be the victor and Josh may be one of them
With MNO cancelled this year we have less clues than usual when considering who can actually win their race this year. So, those in the know, what riders have the potential physically and mentally to win assuming they are in whatever is left of the main pack with 3 laps to go?
Cinzano dudes looks #yoked watch out
Yolked*
Sounds like you’ve been hit by Mike Tyson a few time or is just dumb
It’s unfortunate that MNO was canceled but with the results from spring series and 2022, it’s clear who the top dogs are.
There are 3 returning riders that will make an impact if it comes down to a field sprint.
Will Pitts from Sig EP was second last year with only a three rider rotation. They’re losing Pablo but have gained 2 new riders that will give them the depth they need to make it to the end.
Josh Herbst has a win under his belt, although he was 3rd in last year’s sprint. With the delts results from spring series it might be a challenge for them to be fresh at the end.
Cutters show that they have the depth to be fresh at the end. Torin was 2nd in 2021 and 4th in 2022 which shows that he has the experience to take it in a sprint but might lack the smarts to get it there.
Honorable mentions:
Luke Naas ran a wicked fast ITT but lacks the team to get him to the end.
Carson did somewhat well in ITT but also lacks depth as he completely dropped their rookie 3rd rider in TP.
Judah Thompson is clearly a fit rider but he may lack the experience to sprint against the vets.
If Alpha Sig is able to make it to the last 3 laps Connor Berry will be a threat. He may not have the physical ability to sprint but he is there mentally.
Overall, if any mid tier frat team makes it to the end it’s gonna be a close and messy sprint
Carson didn’t drop a rookie in TP, just an another overly confident RC member who also happens to be a douche
Bro Teter only did 14 laps fr
Sorry you can’t count
Teter actually did 16 laps
Cinzano actually did 69 laps
Would you like to recant your statement now?
As a curious fan who are looking like the top teams in the women’s field this year?
Teter – Good ITTs, great team pursuit, seems unlikely that they won’t be there on the last lap, not sure if they have a sprinter strong enough to win, probably only team strong enough to break away
AXO – 3 seniors/3rd year riders, Solid ITTs including overall winner, looked great during team pursuit and possibly could’ve won but 3rd rider went down, won quals and clearly has fundamentals down
Zana – Somewhat surprising 2nd place team pursuit finish, #2 ITTer who has racing experience and could win a sprint, lack required depth to lap the field but if the other teams quit like they did last year then who knows or maybe that $10k bike build might ride itself to the win
DG – solid all the way around, relatively experienced with a ’21 champ on the team, however lack a ‘wow-factor’ that seems essential to win the race
Theta – It’s sad but the LaValles will never win a race. Audrey is as strong as anyone but winning with 3 rookies seems like too tall of a task.
Hard to imagine a top 5 without these teams. I predict Teter unsuccessfully attempts a Lap 20 breakaway and blows up. Pray to God that the pack decides to work together this year. DG, Theta, and Teter get dropped on lap 100. Ends with an epic sprint between Melanzana and AXO, Zana’s bottom bracket explodes in turn 3 and Jenna Rodgers rides away victorious.
It also helps Zana has a 4 piece crankset… take a look for yourself
It also helps that Zana has a 4 piece crankset
Bears are the 2023 practice race champs!
cutters got the win this year
Bkb could have made things interesting. They deserve to be racing but Fraud Knapp told them to send every exchange during quals. Without Bkb and Goode to keep Cutters in check, Cutters riding away early is a forgone conclusion. Cutters are deep enough to pummel this years weak field.
Behind them its Sigep and Asig. Both teams have a strong lead rider and ample support to keep them in the race. Pitts showed us all last year that he can be that guy. Asig looked dialed in but race day experience may be a liability.
“Deltblach” and Herbst would be good shouts for the podium if Herbst had any support whatsoever. I heard they care more about vegas bombs on Saturday than the race itself. Similar story with Carson and Phi Psi.
The Naas kid is the real deal but has no experience actually racing bikes. Its safe to count SAE out of the lead lap.
A Cutters attack from 100 laps or so seems inevitable and nobody can do anything to stop them. Why would they ever risk a sprint?
1. Cutters
2. SigEp (1 lap down)
3. Asig
Maybe they’ll finally get laid
Riding Little 5 at a competitive level is one of the worst roadmaps to getting laid, win or lose.
Speak for yourselves lol
Delts rookies are simply too heavy to supply laps for Josh. They will be looking to the heavens for a combination of both help and oxygen by lap 110, and neither will be delivered, what will be delivered is Josh riding the back half of the race into an inevitable probability of getting lapped. No more Trent to lean on, bud. That is a fact.
Everyone talking about Josh like he the 2nd coming of Eric Young
Who has the final spring series results?
Working on a project to try and collect as much data as I can since IUSF can’t seem to be bothered
So you use all two brain cells to come complain on here but can’t check Twitter where there’s a link to results for all three events?
For all further inquiries please don’t send a message and continue to be butt hurt on here
There are results on twitter, but they don’t have the scoring system there. Is it just whoever wins the most events? How much are ITT positions worth, etc, etc. That’s why I asked. I’d have thought that some of the people with brain cells on this board would be able to help out. I had to go dig around on the IDS website to figure out that it was Cutters and Teter.
Thanks for the help.
If you made it a little more clear what you were asking for I would have done so. Happy to do that in the morning.
Need one more Dave Blaze post before race day.
ITTs and team pursuit suggest Cutters isn’t as far ahead of the field as some would think. Sig Eps average rider roster ITT is 2:33 compared to Cutters 2:30 and the team pursuit times are only 3/10s of a second apart. The middle of the field is a definitely a mixed bag and none have the strength to keep up if they lose the peloton. But if they stay in it several teams have a strong rider who can do damage at the end.
My prediction (based on ITTs and Team Pursuit)
1. Sig Ep
2. Cutters
3. Delts
Mid tier teams that could do damage with a little luck: 3PH, IUDM, AKPsi
You seem to be overlooking that Cutters typically dont target spring series whatsoever.
Sigep is way more dependent on Pitts while everyone on Cutters is capable of riding off the front. The nature of the event is that only one rider can be out at once. Sigep need to keep it together for a sprint for Pitts to clean up. Cutters are dangerous regardless of who’s out there.
Judah is extremely quick and we all know Torin is much better than his ITT suggests. Gaskill won a few 3/4 races this summer and might be their sprinter. Lets not kid ourselves, they are exponentially deeper than anyone in this weak field.
Kirkham built himself a team. Its really the field vs the Cutters this year.
I’d argue that there was another rider who will make an impact and his ITT didn’t show it
Cutters is deeper yes, but if others play their cards right they can be right with them on lap 190.
And dropped like a bad habit by lap 200.
Having a 3sec avg advantage in ITTs is huge considering everyone is on the same tiny, limiting gear.
In terms of quals, you gotta remember SigEp had a stellar time in rainy, windy, crap conditions and held their own against the other teams that went later in the day when conditions were far better.
Cutters have great endurance and a good kick on most of their guys. SigEp guys don’t have as good endurance or sprint but they’re up there.
Predictions:
Cutters
SigEp
Delts
For the ladies, it’s really no contest in the top three:
Teter
Zana
Theta
Hella wildcards in the top 5 though, it’ll be fun to see the placings unfold after Teter and Zana lap the field.
I feel like your prediction for the womens field is simply ~wrong~
If Pitts was on the cutters he would be a #3 rider at best.
Im sitting in the cutters prerace meeting rn just heard coach say they aren’t going to start riding until lap 2
I’m in the same meeting and I heard him say they’re gonna ride no handed too – just to make it a fair race
The real question is who’s gonna win the James Welch Memorial Ice mile at 4pm on Sunday?
Yoooo there’s no way this thing exists people really come on here to anonymously talk smack about an intramural bike race that’s awesome I love little 5
Not just an intramural bike race. The largest paid attendance bike race in the country, and maybe the only one where anyone cares about the outcome. As evidenced by this discussion board. Celebrate it!
Having raced in and watched little 5 it is definitely the biggest bike race in the country.
This broadcast is awful. How does IU have one of the best media schools in the country and this is what we get? Show the pack in relation to the leader, get the tweakers off the cameras, and quit with the stupid stories that cover the race feed.
Fire everyone involved
Right. A move that stuck for 30+ laps then as it’s coming back together they switch to 2 different stories as somehow a half lap lead evaporates? Leaving broadcast viewers with no real way of knowing how that lead got brought back since they never showed where the pack was. Also how can they not figure out how to have a live ticker to stay up for 100 laps? They’ve done it before, but can’t replicate it every year somehow? they also gave so much air time to random teams and teams making exchanges that were not even on the lead lap. Finally on the last lap it’s a half lap lead and the commentator is going crazy on Zanas exchange thinking it was gonna come back together?? Most anticlimactic finish but the commentator treated it like a 10 team sprint or something. It was a really solid race from a lot of teams this year, so it is such a shame it isn’t represented well by the broadcast. That’s the main reason to complain about it..
We need a blue shell out here fr
they gotta be hurting tonight all those fast laps and no rest
